Clinical supervision for counsellors and therapists in West Wales and online UK
Good supervision is not just a professional requirement; it is one of the most valuable investments you can make in your practice and your clients. It is a space to think carefully, be challenged helpfully, and be supported sustainably.
I am Gareth Vaughan, a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and accredited clinical supervisor (CSAccred.(AAC), BPS SDS) based in New Quay, Ceredigion, West Wales. I offer individual clinical supervision in person and online via Microsoft Teams to counsellors and therapists across the UK.
My approach to supervision
My supervisory practice is grounded in Proctor's Three Function Interactive Model, addressing the normative (accountability and ethics), formative (professional development), and restorative (emotional support) functions of supervision. In practice, this means sessions are shaped by what you and your clients actually need, not by a fixed agenda.
I bring a warm, reflective, and appropriately challenging style. I am committed to creating a supervision relationship in which you feel genuinely safe to bring the full complexity of your clinical work, including the cases that are keeping you up at night.

Frequently asked questions, clinical supervision
How often would supervision sessions take place?
Most supervisees work with me fortnightly, though monthly supervision is also available for experienced practitioners with lighter caseloads. We discuss and agree a schedule that meets your professional requirements and personal needs.
Do you supervise trainees?
Yes. I welcome counsellors in training and can provide the kind of supervision that supports both your developing practice and your course requirements. Please get in touch to discuss what your training placement needs.
What theoretical orientations do you supervise?
I am an integrative practitioner and supervisor. I am comfortable working with counsellors from person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, ACT, and integrative backgrounds. I do not require supervisees to share my theoretical orientation.
Do you offer online clinical supervision?
Yes. I offer clinical supervision via Microsoft Teams to counsellors and therapists anywhere in the UK. Online supervision is fully effective and allows therapists in rural areas, including those in West Wales, to access experienced specialist supervision that may not be available locally.
How do I arrange an introductory call?
Please contact me by phone on 07544 518276 or by email at gareth@gareth-vaughan.co.uk. I offer a no-obligation introductory call so we can discuss your needs and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
