Just hearing the doctor say the word 'cancer' can have a profound effect on a person.

When dealing with a cancer diagnosis it can effect every area of your life from emotions, finances, relationships and social support.

A certain amount of emotional distress is common, particularly around the time of a diagnosis, with psychological issues more common in the first year after treatment, however even 10 years on 54% of cancer survivors can still suffer from at least one psychological issue.

When dealing with cancer it can feel like you are on a roller coaster, not know what is coming next.

Counselling can help you manage your emotions, having a confidential space to talk about your thoughts, worries and things you might not be able to say to your loved ones can be beneficial in helping you cope better.
